Grew up in Tokyo, where he studied
Shakuhachi (traditional Japanese bamboo flute) with different teachers before
joining Komuso Kenkyu-kai, a research
organization on Komuso (monk of emptiness). He
has been performing Shakuhachi in Japan
and the United States.
His principal repertoire is Honkyoku,
traditional meditative pieces passed by the Komuso
over 500 years. He has been also active in collaboration with different types
of performing arts such as Modern, Duncan, Flamenco, Noh and Butoh.
Performances
